This round-bodied, double-walled mug was created in reverence to the Libra full moon—a lunation that calls us to weigh not just our own needs, but the needs of the collective. At its heart is a hand-carved tribute to the Scales of Justice—delicately suspended with fine, experimental lines carved thinner than I’ve ever attempted in clay, representing the strands that hold the weight of truth, fairness, and accountability.
Holding 11–14 ounces, these mugs are as functional as they are symbolic—ideal for the public defender, the activist, the mediator, or anyone committed to the hard work of balancing power with empathy. True to Libra’s energy, this mug asks us to consider: How much of our time is spent walking solo? What beauty and healing might unfold if we allowed ourselves to lean on others, to be part of something greater than ourselves?
In the making of this piece, I pushed my own boundaries—learning how to carve with tenderness, to let the clay be fragile and bold all at once. The process reminded me of the themes I return to again and again in my work: vulnerability as strength, imperfection as truth, and collaboration as liberation.
Libra teaches us that balance isn’t stasis—it’s an ongoing act of care and recalibration. This mug, like many of us, bears the marks of that effort: hand-carved textures, soft irregularities, and the quiet resilience of something made with intention and offered with heart.
